Khamzat Chimaev has been on the sidelines since his nightmarish outing at UFC 279. However, he seems to have his sights set on his next fight. In a recent tweet, the Chechen star announced an opponent and a weight class for his next bout.

Chimaev last entered the octagon at UFC 279. Initially set to feature in the main event against Nate Diaz, Chimaev missed weight and faced Kevin Holland in the co-main event instead. ‘Borz’ received a lot of backlash for being unprofessional and missing weight.

Since then, his future has been inconsistent with names being thrown around without any fight news coming. Additionally, many fans and pros started doubting if the Swede could make 170 lbs again.

Meanwhile, one star has been constantly calling out Chimaev. The Brazilian middleweight Paulo Costa wants a piece of ‘The Wolf’ and has been resorting to several antics to get the fight.

It looks like Costa may finally get his wish as Chimaev has responded to ‘Borraccincha’ with a callout of his own.

In a recent tweet, Khamzat Chimaev wrote, “Cotsa I am coming for you.” The 28-year-old also attached an image of his current weight. The reading on the scale read 98.5 kg ( 216 lbs approx).

The Chechen is essentially walking around like a mini-heavyweight and this raised a few questions from the fans. Many of them also shared their frustration with Chimaev for calling out fighters and never actually fighting any of them.

One fan had confidence in Chimaev becoming a champion at MW. However, they also reminded him of how he fumbled a ‘champ champ’ opportunity by missing weight at UFC 279. With a win at UFC 279, Chimaev could have earned himself a title shot.

I see you being a problem at 185 as well, but all you had to do was make weight one more time at 170 and you would have been guaranteed a title shot. The title was as good as yours, then you could have stepped up to 185 and tried to become champ champ.
