It’s the skills that matter the most when it comes to choosing your favorite athlete. However, the fact remains that NBA includes some of the best-looking players who manage to snag the attention of non-basketball fans who know little to nothing about the sport. One such athlete has been in the league for eight seasons and currently plays for the Michael Jordan-owned Charlotte Hornets. A television personality/producer shared a slightly embarrassing incident with said athlete when he recently appeared for a podcast interview.
The Charlotte Hornets were on a three-game winning streak until they came across their owner’s former team, Chicago Bulls. Much to the fans’ dismay, the Hornets fell short of the Bulls by a 30-point deficit and are currently among the bottom five teams in the Eastern Conference.
Jason Lee gets turned down by Hornets star
Culture critic Jason Lee recently made an appearance on the Pivot podcast where he spilled the beans on his encounter with Kelly Oubre Jr. The 27-year-old NBA forward has been playing for the Charlotte Hornets since 2021. In the recent episode of the podcast, Lee revealed that he once approached Oubre at a party, but their impromptu meeting didn’t go as he had expected.
Lee shared that he believed in manifesting things in his life and, therefore, he would regularly post Oubre’s pictures on his social media handle.

He then continued, “I walk in this party and as soon as I walk in I see Kelly Oubre and I go ‘oh sh*t!’ Kelly turns around and goes ‘Hey man, look…I ain’t gay. I love that you’re gay and I love that you love me, but not in that way. I’m cool, I love you, but I’m not with it.’ I said, ‘Damn, you couldn’t have said hello?’ But he was a good sport about it.”
After the slightly bizarre encounter, Lee apparently found out that Oubre had gotten into a relationship with a woman and his only reaction was, ‘F**k Kelly Oubre’.
Bulls disrupt Hornets’ winning streak
After defeating the Dallas Mavericks in back-to-back games and claiming victory over the OKC Thunder, the Charlotte Hornets went up against the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. Michael Jordan’s team turned out to be a huge disappointment when they gave the Bulls a 30-point lead that effectively ended their streak.
