The “new year, new me” in all of us is desperate for a nice luxe beauty treat, and Gucci Beauty came through for us. They've just dropped their first ever lip gloss – Gloss à Lèvres – and it promises to give you plumpness, ultra-glaze, juice, you name it…
Picture this: a wash of sheer gloss with an instant and enduring plumping effect that gives your lips a crystal-shine finish. How about hydration? You got it. These lip glosses have been formulated with hyaluronic acid, promising a hydration boost that lasts up to eight hours – like a sip of water for your lips – to leave them looking smoother and fuller.
19 best lip glosses to add a gorgeous sheen to your pout – all the shine minus the stickinessGallery19 PhotosThere's also a tingly kick to them, but what exactly is in secret sauce, you ask? A boosting blend of ginger roots and capsicum extract that works hard to give you that instant plumping effect. The texture is designed to blur lip lines and folds and it's powered with reflective polymers, to give you that IG main feed-worthy pout.
To see if the glosses truly are all that we hope them to be, our GLAMOUR staffers put five of the six Gloss à Lèvres shades to the test. This is what they thought…

Firstly, this gloss is so chic and so nice to look at – I want it to have a permanent spot on my desk. The consistency is not to be played with. She is thicc. Not in a gloopy PVA, messy, kind of way. It's viscous but still wearable and sits comfortably on the lips. The product not travelling much means it can stand the test of time and doesn't require many top ups throughout the day.
If I'm honest, it doesn't give me maximum hydration as it's mildly drying, but my lips still look mega juicy and this chocolate brown shade is everything for a dark skin Barbie like me. There is a tingle, but it's bearable and doesn't last very long. Tingles always make me feel like my lips are getting a workout, and if they don't look plump, they sure do feel it. It is £33 for gloss, which is a bit over my gloss budget cap, but considering it's Gucci, I'm not mad at it.

I love a glossy lip, especially in the winter when I want to inject a little more glitz into my makeup. But a Gucci glossy lip? Even better. First off, I appreciated the adorable star adorned packaging. It looked like something you'd find in Barbie's makeup bag. I also really appreciated the smaller-tipped applicator which allowed for precise application.
The gloss itself glided on and came up as a super wearable blush pink shade with a gorgeously subtle shimmer. This definitely delivered on the gloss front, giving my lips an almost laminated doll effect that lasted well through the evening without feeling sticky. All in all I love this for an easy go-to gloss.

When I saw the packaging for this lip gloss, it was love at first sight. I love how fun and sparkly the packaging is and more importantly, how much product you get in the tube. I tried the shade Sadie Coral, a true-to-name orange gloss, which left a very sheer sweep of colour on my lips. I usually opt for pink and nude glosses, so this was a little leap out of my comfort zone, but the risk was worth the reward. About a minute after applying, I started to notice the tingling effect and looked back in the mirror and couldn’t believe how fast it had worked. So word to the wise, if you’re not a fan of tingling glosses, then you may want to sit this one out. For me, this gloss has unexpectedly won me over big time. My lips looked super nourished and juicy, with a healthy dose of shine.

I love Gucci beauty products because they make the whole application process a far more luxurious one, right down to the packaging. As far as their formulas go, I've never met one I didn't like. Plumping lip glosses are my favourite kind because they do all the hard work for me, and this one is a new fave. Subtle in colour but loud in performance, I could feel it getting to work from the get-go. It enhanced my pout by at least a few millimetres and the tingly feeling lasted ages, so it's definitely one to keep in my beauty bag.

Glass everything is going to be big when it comes to beauty in 2024, starting with glass lips. I chose the clear shade because I just wanted to add a mirror-like top coat to my natural lip colour, but the beauty of clear is that it can layer over the top of any lipstick or lip pencil you already love to give it a juicy finish. The lip-plumping helped give me a little extra volume and the applicator was easy enough to use. Plus the packaging is cute enough to earn a spot in my bag.
